MahlerFest Announces Conducting Fellowship as part of MahlerFest XXIX

Colorado MahlerFest is proud to announce the launch of the new Mahler Conducting Fellowship Program for outstanding young professional conductors.

Beginning in 2016, MahlerFest will invite 2-3 fellows to participate in the festival as assistant conductors. Fellows will attend daily score study and seminar sessions with Artistic Director Kenneth Woods, work with guest lecturers and speakers, and conduct in a public masterclass.

Faculty – 

  • Kenneth Woods – Artistic Director of Colorado MahlerFest, Principal Conductor, English Symphony Orchestra Founder, and Director- Rose City International Conductors’ Workshop
  • Peter Davison – Artistic Consultant, The Bridgwater Hall.
  • Kurt Schwertsik – Visiting Composer. Schwertsik is a founder of the “Third Viennese School.”

Repertoire –

As assistant conductors:

  • Gustav Mahler – Symphony no. 7
  • Kurt Schwertsik – Nachtmusiken

For the public masterclass:

  • Gustav Mahler arr. Erwin Stein – Symphony no. 4

Scholarships –

All students accepted will receive a full scholarship worth $1,925. Participation is generously supported by Colorado MahlerFest and our educational concerts.
